Jim is currently servicing the Charlotte metro area and Gastonia in North Carolina. These are pretty large service areas, and with 7 surrounding counties, Jim as well as our other mobile mechanics around Charlotte will be able to fix your car in Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lancaster, Lincoln, and York Counties. If you live or work in those areas, you might get lucky enough to score an auto repair or maintenance appointment with Jim!

When Jim was younger, he recalls always having an interest in cars. For him, it was a natural interest and ran in his blood. His father was a "master transmission builder." Although he never had an "aha" moment where he realized that he wanted to be an automotive technician, he grew up around cars and felt drawn to them at an early age. Now he can say that he has been working in the automotive industry for 23 years!

During the two years he has spent working for Wrench, he has had quite a few memorable service calls. His most memorable service call, however, is a very strange story.

"Early in my career with Wrench, I went to a job for a gentleman that was having multiple issues of concern with his truck. As I was diagnosing one of his electrical problems, the eye contact between us continued to grow. Finally he says, “you look so much like someone from back home.” Thinking myself he looked a little familiar as well, I asked him where he was from. He responds with, “Michigan.” Then it was apparent to me that I helped him with vehicle trouble during my time living in Michigan. Although this is not a memory that is specific to the job at hand, it does resonate with me to this day. He thanked me for being honest with my diagnosis. Here I was again years later, with the opportunity to leave another good first impression, which is rare. I was able to earn his gratitude 800 miles away from our first encounter more than 10 years later. This is what I like to leave my customers with, a good first impression every time I come back to diagnose and repair their vehicle." -Jim Baker

Whether you are a first-time customer or a regular, Jim is the type of technician that will give you his all during every single service. You won't have to feel like he is rushing through it all, he will take his time to help you understand the process so you know exactly what is going on.

If Jim could give you, as a car owner, just one piece of advice during your auto repair and maintenance adventures, he would tell you to always, "challenge your technician." Jim is a firm believer in asking questions, so he encourages customers to ask their technicians as many questions as possible.

"You can learn a great deal about a person's knowledge and integrity by asking questions. They should never hesitate to take the time to explain what went wrong with your vehicle and explain it in detail if they are knowledgeable. Try to educate yourself in basic knowledge whether it be about the vehicle itself, or what others with similar issues were advised to do by their technician." - Jim B.

How to Book An Appointment With Wrench's Technicians

If you would like to book an appointment with Jim in Charlotte, North Carolina, or any of our other fantastic ASE-certified mobile mechanics, go to the homepage of our website, download our mobile app, or contact us via phone call or email. You will need to give us some information about your car and the problems you have been experiencing so we can make sure we come to your appointment fully prepared and give you an accurate auto repair quote.

The first thing we will need to know is what kind of vehicle you have. Here at Wrench, we offer our convenient auto repair and maintenance services to any kind of vehicle. If you have a classic vehicle or another kind of vehicle that requires more expertise, we will match you up with one of our mobile mechanics that have experience working with similar vehicles. Just give us the color, year, make, and model of your vehicle as well as the VIN and license plate number and we will take that information into consideration when assigning a mobile mechanic to your job.

Then we will need to know what service your car needs. If you are due for a routine oil change or other maintenance services, you can request the service your car needs directly. If you are experiencing automotive issues and need a mobile mechanic to solve them, you will want to book a diagnostic appointment. For that service, our mobile mechanic will come to your location and determine the issue with your car. If the issue happens to be a quick fix and our mobile mechanic can repair it right away, they will. However, most of the time the issue will end up being a more complex replacement. For example, if we find that you need a battery or alternator replacement, we will have to schedule another service appointment so we can order the replacement part.

Once we know what kind of car you have and what service you need, we will send you a quote for your appointment. This quote will include both a time and cost estimate so you know exactly what to expect. With Wrench, you will never have to worry about paying hidden fees because we will always give you as much information as possible before the service even starts. You will be able to look over your auto repair quote from us and decide if you want to move forward with the booking process. Then you will accept our quote and choose a date, time, and specific location for your auto repair appointment. At that point, you will be able to sit back and relax and let our skilled mobile mechanics take care of your car.

Getting your car repaired can be that easy. Book an appointment with a mobile mechanic today and you will be introduced to the future of the automotive industry. And as said by Jim, "Choose Wrench! You will be happy you did!"
