How to Check Your Oil
- Take out the dipstick and wipe it off.
Make sure you wipe off the dipstick with a clean, lint-free towel so you can see the oil better. - Put the dipstick back in the pipe.
- Take out the dipstick and examine the oil at the end of the stick.
Look at how high the oil line is on the dipstick. There should be the labels "Add" and "Full." If it comes up to the "Add" line, simply add more oil. The oil turns black fast, so that doesn't necessarily mean you need to change it. But if you smudge it between your index finger and you thumb and there is leftover dirt, then you should get it changed. - Put the dipstick back in the pipe.
Symptoms You Need to Get Your Oil Changed

Factors That Affect When to Change Your Oil
Depending on the car you drive, oil you use, and your driving habits there are factors that change how often you should change your oil. For example, if you live in a busy city area with a lot of stop and go traffic, you might need to get your oil changed sooner. With that said, we still stand by our 3,000-6,000 mile recommendation. If you get an oil change service at Wrench, we will give you a 3,000 mile or 90 day warranty so you can drive with confidence.
