Why Should I Wax My Car?

To many, waxing your vehicle may seem unheard of, or something that you only see in the movies. Wrench is here to tell you that there are several reasons to wax your car to ensure that it stays in tip-top shape for as long as possible. It is easy to focus only on the internal maintenance of your vehicle because it is the most crucial to your safety and ability to drive, but the exterior needs some love as well!  If you are unsure of what it means to wax your car in the first place, it is a relatively simple process that involves applying a thin layer of wax to your car’s paint, allowing it to partially harden, and then going over it with a towel or other polishing device. Although this might seem like you did all of that work only to wipe it off, we can assure you that a thin layer is left behind that serves as a protective coat. While you may not be able to see it in some lights, the protective coat actually has several benefits to your vehicle.

1. A radiating, glossy finish. Although we did say there are additional benefits to waxing your car besides the obvious cosmetic improvement, the high gloss finish that your car will boast when you are done is almost reason enough to wax your car. Doing so will bring out your car’s beautiful color and leave the surface so shiny you might as well use it as a mirror.
2. Protecting the paint job. Not only will waxing your car bring out your car’s true colors, it will also prevent the paint job from fading in the first place. Being outside everyday, your vehicle is going to experience some wear and tear as a result of weather patterns, but a good wax job every once in a while will prevent oxidation and keep your car looking as good as new.
3. Protection from the sun. It is 2019, people should know by now how important sunscreen is for our health. The same is true with wax for your car; the thin layer of wax on your car can serve as a protection from the sun and will decrease the likelihood of fading or discoloration, and oxidation as well.
