Wrench Inc. Limited Warranty
Last Updated: June 2023
What is covered by this Limited Warranty?
This Limited Warranty is provided by Wrench, Inc. ("Wrench”). Subject to the below conditions, Wrench warrants that any maintenance and repair services purchased and provided through Wrench (the "Services”) will be free from defects in materials supplied by Wrench (for example parts used in the Services) and in the workmanship performed by mechanics provided by Wrench.
The Limited Warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages, except where such exclusion is prohibited by law. Wrench disclaims any other implied warranties other than those expressly contained within this Limited Warranty and our Terms of Service. The total amount of damages covered by this Limited Warranty will not exceed the actual costs of covered repairs.
This Limited Warranty extends to the original purchaser of the Services and is not transferable and does not extend to any person who may purchase, borrow, use, or lease the car after the Services were performed.
How long will coverage under this Limited Warranty last?
Except as otherwise specified, this Limited Warranty lasts for 12 months or 12,000 miles of use, whichever comes first, as measured from the date and odometer reading at the time the Services were provided (the "Warranty Period”). However, the Warranty Period for oil changes is 90 days or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. If a part provided in the Services has a separate warranty that is longer than the Warranty Period, that longer warranty will apply to that part and this Limited Warranty will apply to the work performed by the mechanic. Note that any remedial work performed under this Limited Warranty will not restart the Warranty Period.
What will Wrench do if our Service is defective during the Warranty Period?
If either the materials provided or the work performed in the Services has a defect within the Warranty Period, we will, at our option either (1) retain a mechanic without charge to you to correct the defect including, if necessary, replacing any defective part(s) used in the Services, or (2) refund to you the full amount you paid for the Services. (Please note that we will refund only what you actually paid for the Service. Any promotion or discount used to reduce the amount paid for a Service will not be included in a refund provided under this Limited Warranty.) If either the materials provided or the work performed in the Services has a defect within the Warranty Period, you must contact Wrench Inc. so that we can first diagnose or repair the problem before taking your vehicle to a person not scheduled and processed through the Wrench Platform. Doing so will void your warranty.
What is not covered by this Limited Warranty?
This Limited Warranty will not apply:
- To any work for which you have paid the mechanic directly, rather than making your payment through Wrench;
- To any work not scheduled and processed through Wrench, including (i) any work performed by a mechanic originally introduced to you through Wrench to the extent such work was not scheduled and processed through Wrench, (ii) any work performed by any mechanic or other person not associated with Wrench, and (iii) any work performed by you;
- Any damage to your car caused by abnormal use (including any as use in a commercial venture), misuse, neglect (such as not performing maintenance services in accordance with the instructions in the owner’s manual for your car), alteration or tampering, or by external causes (including accidents, theft, vandalism, fire, water, wind, hail, and freezing temperatures);
- To any work performed on a vehicle used commercially; and To any issues unrelated to the Services you purchased (for example, you purchase an oil change and your car leaks oil due to faulty engine seals or gaskets. The Limited Warranty would not apply to the engine oil leak.);
- Any diagnostic or inspection service including pre-purchase inspection services provided through the Wrench Platform;
- Any pre-existing condition with your car that is not known by the Technician prior to starting the Vehicle Services and that is discovered during or after the Vehicle Services are performed (e.g., if you engage the Technician to replace valve cover gaskets, but during the removal of the valve covers, worn plastic hoses break because they are old and brittle; repairing or replacing the plastic hoses under that scenario would not be covered by this Limited Warranty);
- Any repairs that you request the Technician perform beyond those included in the Technician’s diagnosis of the problem, and which the Technician performs, even if those additional repairs are needed to fix the issue you asked the Technician to diagnose; provided, however, that if you authorize and pay for additional repairs through Wrench, such additional repairs would be included in the Vehicle Services and covered by this Limited Warranty; and
- Any consequential effects of the Vehicle Services performed, unrelated to any of the parts replaced being defective or any of the repair work being done incorrectly (e.g., if you request a transmission fluid service, but because you have not been replacing the transmission fluid regularly, when the Technician replaces the fluid, with the right fluid installed properly, your transmission stops shifting properly because it cannot handle the new fluid—this is a “consequential effect” not covered by this Limited Warranty).
This Limited Warranty is entirely void when:
- Any parts not ordered through the Wrench Platform are installed by the Technician;
- Any Vehicle Service request is made by you that deviates from a manufacturer’s recommendation (e.g., conventional oil is requested by you for an oil change but the owner’s manual for your vehicle calls for synthetic oil); or
- After receiving the Vehicle Services, you take your car to a person not scheduled and processed through the Wrench Platform to diagnose or repair a problem believed to be associated with such Vehicle Services, without giving Wrench the first opportunity to inspect and remedy the problem (or to give written consent to an alternative person or shop from doing so).
Any determination of whether this Limited Warranty does not apply or is otherwise void as to a particular warranty claim will be made by us in our sole discretion.
You will be charged for one hour of labor fees if a service call is made under this Limited Warranty for an alleged defect determined not to be the result of a defect in materials or workmanship of the Vehicle Services. You must pay for any non-warranty service ordered at the same time as any warranty service.
Any services that require adjustments of existing parts and not parts replacements
How do you file a claim under this Limited Warranty?
To obtain service under this Limited Warranty email us at hello@wrench.com within the Warranty Period. We will send a mechanic to inspect the problem.The following steps must be followed for the limited warranty:
If there is a materials or workmanship defect within the Warranty Period, we will, at our option and at no additional cost to you: (i) engage a Technician without charge to you to perform remedial service work or replace defective part(s) installed in connection with the Vehicle Services; or (ii) refund any amount actually paid by you to us for the Vehicle Services. (Note that any discounts or promotions you applied towards payment of the Vehicle Services will not count as amounts you paid for purposes of any refund under this Limited Warranty.) In the event that a refund is to be issued due to defective materials, we may require the return of the defective part or parts at issue prior to processing a refund. We will not be responsible for any core fee charges incurred by you associated with returning the defective part or parts to us. If the Technician determines that the claimed defect is not the result of a defect in materials or workmanship of the Vehicle Services, you will be charged for one hour of labor fees.
The vehicle needs to be within our service area to provide a pre-warranty check and to perform warranty work.
All other possible warranty scenarios not mentioned above should be reviewed with customer support. If the mechanic determines that there is a defect in materials or workmanship of the Services and we elect to perform remedial service work or replace defective part(s) installed (instead of providing a refund), we will create a new appointment to perform such work or replace such part(s) at no cost to you.
We neither assume nor authorize anyone to assume for us any other obligation or liability in connection with the Vehicle Services.
