Shilo's Start In The Automotive Industry

Shilo has been working in the automotive industry for a very long time, 15 years to be exact. During that time, he has worked to learn as much as possible and improve his technical skills.

But you might be wondering why he chose to work with cars. For him, it was a natural thing!

"I have been working on engines since before I could legally drive. When I was 13, I entered my first junior drag race at the Las Vegas Speedway with a junior dragster I built with my father. Since then, I’ve always wanted to make things faster, from a moped to the first real drag car I built at 16. I’ve always loved taking things apart and learning how they work. So I decided to make a career out of it. I went to school and became a master tech by the age of 21. I have now invested my life into the automotive repair industry and everything that comes with it." -Shilo B.

Here at Wrench, we are glad that he ended up working in the automotive industry because we got a great mobile technician! Shilo has excellent technical skills and customer service skills. For a year and five months, Shilo has been a part of the Wrench team. Being a mobile technician brings a different set of challenges than working in a shop or dealership, but Shilo caught on quickly.

During his time with Wrench so far, he has serviced hundreds of vehicles, but there are always a few services that are more memorable than others. Shilo's most memorable service call was when he helped a customer with his Dodge Charge about a year ago.

"The customer had a vehicle with a crank no-start condition and brought it to many shops trying to get it fixed. He even brought it to the dealer twice. They had replaced the fuel pump, all fuel injectors, the ECU, and even pulled the cylinder heads and replaced the timing components. However, the vehicle still wouldn't start. It hadn't run in over two years, and the customer was getting ready to junk the vehicle when his new neighbor gave him my information. After about 4 hours, I was able to find two problems: a short to ground in his wiring harness to the fuel pump (which was the original problem), and the timing was off from someone who attempted to repair it previously and had made a mistake. I repaired the vehicle and had it running the same day. As soon as it started, the customer literally started jumping with joy and tried to hug me. He was so happy he jumped in his charger and yelled 'Bill me whatever, I gotta drive this thing,' and took off in his vehicle smiling ear to ear." - Shilo B.

Shilo's favorite part about being a mobile technician is that he gets to work directly with customers and see their happiness firsthand. In fact, a lot of Wrench technicians enjoy this aspect of their job.

"There have been many people stuck with leaks, brake issues, no starts, etc., that we have helped and saved them so much time and money by not taking their vehicle to a shop." - Shilo B.
